Police: Amsterdam man arrested on drug charges after crash, foot chase



AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (News10) — An Amsterdam person has been arrested right after a motor vehicle crash led to the obtaining of prescription drugs in his automobile, reported police. The Amsterdam Law enforcement Office said Haji Dukuray, 26, was arrested on December 26.

All-around 4 p.m. on Sunday, law enforcement gained a connect with for a two car incident on Market place Avenue and Lincoln Avenue in Amsterdam. Law enforcement stated Dukuray was the only occupant of the car or truck which rear-finished the car or truck in front of him. The driver of the 2nd car experienced slight accidents.

Law enforcement stated officers built plain check out observations of contraband in Dukuray’s auto for the duration of the investigation. Police also observed that his driver’s license was suspended.

When requested to exit the vehicle, Dukuray bought out and fled on foot from officers. Police reported he tried using to throw away a plastic bag of suspected cocaine during the chase. He was pursued on foot and taken into custody. Law enforcement said Dukuray was observed to be in the possession of suspected heroin and other controlled substances.

Dukuray was arraigned in Amsterdam Town Courtroom and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $1,000 funds bail.
